PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus with a zoom lens capable of preventing a lens system from being made large in size due to wider angle and obtaining an excellent imaging performance even in larger diameter by appropriately constituting arrangement of respective groups. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus having the zoom lens which consists of a first positive group G1, a second negative group G2, a third positive group G3 and a fourth positive group G4 and in which at least the first, second and third groups move so that an interval between the first and second groups increases, an interval between the second and third groups decreases and an interval between the third and fourth groups increase when variably magnifying from a wide angle edge to a telescope edge, the third group G3 consists of a positive lens, a positive lens and a negative lens.
