PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Bi-containing superconductor, a superconducting wire rod and superconducting equipment which has high critical current density by introducing an effective magnetic flux pinning area into the Bi-containing superconductor. SOLUTION: The Bi-containing superconductor is one that comprises a Bi atom, Sr atom, Ca atom, Cu atom, O atom and Fe atom or Y atom and is characterized in that the content of Fe atom against the total amount of Cu atom and Fe atom is 0.01 atom% or higher and 1 atom% or lower, and in that the content of Y atom against the total amount of Ca atom and Y atom is 0.01 atom% or higher and 1 atom% or lower.
