PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lignophenol-based composite molded article improved in strength of the molded article, capable of suppressing expansion in thickness at the time of absorbing moisture or water without increasing the amount of a lignophenol derivative and/or a secondary derivative thereof as a binder to the raw material to be molded. SOLUTION: This lignophenol-based composite molded article is obtained by adding and mixing a lignophenol derivative, where lignin in a lignocellulose-based material is derivatized with a phenol derivative by adding an acid to the lignocellulose-based material on which the phenol derivative is sorbed, to a raw material to be molded as a binder, and further adding an inorganic salt, and molding.
