Provided is a remotely adjustable artificial sphincter by using an artificial sphincter band, an actuator, and a control circuit, thereby securing the artificial sphincter in a magnetic resonance imaging. The artificial sphincter band is made of non-ferromagnetic material which is suitable to a human body, and has a size for enclosing a body lumen. A control circuit(184) responds to an external programmer portion(142). An actuator(186) is activated by the control circuit for selectively adjusting the artificial sphincter in two directions, and is secure in a magnetic resonance imaging. A power source supplies a power to the control circuit and the actuator.
