PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-luminance electroluminescent element showing a high color rendering property in color development. SOLUTION: This dispersion type electroluminescent element has a phosphor particle layer containing phosphor particles. In the dispersion type electroluminescent element, luminance in light emission is not less than 300 cd/m<SP>2</SP>; a color temperature is in the range of 4,000-6,500 K; it has emission peaks at a wavelength below 515 nm and at a wavelength above 590 nm, respectively; and emission intensity at 650 nm with respect to the longer wave-side emission peak is not smaller than 0.35.
