An organic electroluminescent device having a dummy scan line and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent cross-talk by controlling the amount of charge to be precharged in data lines by using the dummy scan line. An organic electroluminescent device having pixels(E11~E44) formed in emission regions where data lines(D1~D4) and scan lines(S1~S4) cross each other includes a precharge unit(212) for applying precharge current to the data lines during a precharging period; at least one dummy scan line(DSL) crossing the data lines; and a dummy scan driving unit(210) for controlling the amount of the precharge current applied to the data lines by transmitting a dummy scan signal to the dummy scan line. The dummy scan driving unit connects the dummy scan line to the ground for a predetermined time of the precharging period.
