PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic toner with which, as a two-component developer, toner scattering, toner spent to carrier, and scratches on a photoreceptor drum by a magnetic brush can be prevented for a prolonged period and favorable image characteristics (in image density and background fogging) can be obtained for a prolonged period, and to provide an image forming method using the developer. SOLUTION: The two-component developer comprises a carrier and a magnetic toner containing magnetic powder included in the toner particles comprising at least a binder resin, wherein the magnetic powder particle is basically in a polyhedral particle form having vertexes and ridge lines being curved faces and having a peripheral portion taken as a straight line in its projected image, and the magnetic toner shows 4.0 to 15.0 Am<SP>2</SP>/kg saturation magnetization in a 79.6 kA/m magnetic field. A toner carrier carrying at least the magnetic toner to which electric charges are injected is allowed to face a latent image carrier to develop an electrostatic image on the latent image carrier with the magnetic toner.
