PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coater capable of effectively coating a web with a spraying fluid when adopting a fluid spraying system to coat the web with a chemical solution or the like. SOLUTION: In the coater, a sizing agent is sprayed in a vicinity of a nip portion 1c between rolls 1a, 1b and immediately ahead a web 2' and therefore the sprayed sizing agent flows so as to converge to the nip portion 1c by running of the web 2 and associated air caused by a roll rotation in a space surrounded by a running web 2 and each of the rolls 1a, 1b, thereby the sizing agent sprayed from a spraying nozzle 4 is hardly scattered around the circumference, so that it can be effectively coated on the web 2.
