A method for storing a channel when the channel is automatically searched in an image display device is provided to allow a user to view a displayed image and store a desired channel item in real time in a process for performing an automatic channel search function. If power is supplied(S300), an image display device sets an automatic channel search function(S302). The image display device performs an automatic channel search operation through the first tuner according to the automatic channel search function, and displays channel information searched in the first tuner through the second tuner on a screen(S304). The image display device stores a channel selected by a storing command among the channels displayed through the second tuner in a storing unit(S306,S308).
