<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus with high security capable of detecting an illegitimate use even in a stage after user authentication. <P>SOLUTION: A MFP being an example of the image processing apparatus reads a past job log of a user from an ID and a password entered from the user (S105), and acquires the past operating time zone of the MFP and a present time on the basis of the job log (S107). When the present time is not included in the past operating time zone (NO in S109), it is discriminated that there is a possibility of an illegitimate use, mail of informing of the illegitimate use is transmitted to a preset mail address (S111), and the entry of a transmission destination of image data is accepted from the user (S113).
