<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image of high quality by appropriately reducing luminance noise and color difference noise within the image. <P>SOLUTION: Data of (m×n) is generated from image data of Bayer array image data from an imaging element, and converted to luminance/color difference data of (p×q). A luminance average calculation part 5 and a color difference average calculation part 6 calculate an average value AVy of luminance signal and an average value AVc of color difference signal, respectively. A noise estimation part 7 outputs, based on the relation among input pixel luminance signal level, luminance and shot noise of color difference signal, a luminance noise estimated value and a color difference noise estimated value according to the average value AVy of luminance signal from the calculation part 5. A noise reducing part 9 performs noise reducing processing of luminance and color difference noises according to the luminance noise estimated value and color difference noise estimated value from the noise estimation part 7. Since the luminance noise estimated value and the color difference noise estimated value are calculated, respectively, the luminance and color difference noise reducing processing can be optimally performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
