PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective film having such various properties as transparency, ultraviolet blocking effect, light resistance, heat resistance, non-orientation, surface hardness and adhesiveness to a polarizing element, and a polarizing plate obtained by using the protective film. SOLUTION: The protective film for a polarizing plate comprises a substantially non-oriented film having a water absorption of≤0.1%, moisture permeability of≤150 g/m2×24 h, folding endurance of≥500 times and light transmittance of≥90.0%.
