OPTICAL COUPLING ELEMENT AND OPTICAL TRANSMITTER-RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attach a plurality of optical elements to be connected to a plurality of adjacent fiber insertion tubes in an optical coupler which optically couples optical fibers used for transmission of digital video signals to an optical transmitter-receiver element. SOLUTION: The coupling element includes: an attaching section 11 to be attached to an external case 2; first and second fiber insertion tubes 12, 13 formed on one face of the attaching section 11 and adjacent to each other in a first direction; a first optical element insertion tube 14 formed on the other face of the attaching section 11 and to be optically coupled to the first fiber insertion tube 12; a second optical element insertion tube 15 adjacent to the first optical element insertion tube 14 in an oblique direction with respect to the first direction on the other face of the attaching section 11; and a prism 16 formed between the second optical element insertion tube 15 and the second fiber insertion tube 13 and allowing light to propagate from one of the second optical element insertion tube 15 and the second fiber insertion tube 13 to the other.
