PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold forming tap, and a method for manufacturing a cold forming tap, capable of improving abrasion resistance, elongating the service life of a tool, and achieving sufficient strength of a cemented carbide layer. SOLUTION: In this cold forming tap 10, a core member 13 is composed of high speed tool steel, and in an outer circumferential surface of the core member 13 at a male thread part 12, a plurality of serration grooves 20 are formed in parallel to the axial direction of the cold forming tap 10. On an outer circumference where the serration grooves 20 are formed, cemented carbide mainly comprising tungsten carbide is spray-coated to form the cemented carbide layer 30.
