Synthetic filaments are continuously stretched and collected in one operation by stretching a freshly spun filament or bundle of filaments and then depositing the filament or bundle in a pot or receiver by means of an air-operated " injector." The latter term is defined as a device in which a filament or bundle of filaments is entrained by a high speed stream or current of air and is then conveyed by this air into the pot or receiver. The filament or bundle is preferably retained in the pot or receiver by sucking air from the interior of the pot or receiver through openings in the pot or receiver. The air sucked from the pot or receiver is preferably recirculated to the injector, the circulating system incorporating air-conditioning means. The stretching of the filament or filaments may be effected by means of feed and draw rolls in the usual manner. The injector and/or the pot may be rotated about their axes continuously in one direction or to and fro.
