PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video processor capable of performing black extension processing more favorably and displaying high-quality video images. SOLUTION: This video processor is provided with a luminance feature detection unit (4) for detecting a frequency in each of a plurality of luminance regions at least not higher than predetermined luminance by using an inputted video signal, a black extension processing portion (6) for performing black extension processing concerning luminance signals not higher than the predetermined luminance level of the video signal, and a microcomputer (5) which controls the quantity of the black extension of the black extension processing portion by using the frequency in each of the plurality of luminance regions detected by the detection unit.
