摘要 A self-luminous LCD is provided to reduce the absorption of ultraviolet by a liquid crystal layer, thereby suppressing the damage of the liquid crystal layer and improving the utilizing efficiency of the ultraviolet. A liquid crystal layer(14) is provided between a front substrate(18) and a rear substrate(11). Electrodes(16,12) are provided on respective inner surfaces of the front substrate and the rear substrate, and form an electric field in the liquid crystal layer. A fluorescent layer(17) is provided above the front substrate, and radiates by a wavelength of 390 to 410 nanometers. A backlight unit(20) is formed on a rear side of the rear substrate. The backlight unit has a lamp(21) for emitting blue based ultraviolet of 390 to 410 nanometers to the fluorescent layer.
