A light emitting display and a driving method thereof are provided to execute correct operations for each line and color by generating a clock necessary for driving by using the light emitted from a light emitting element patterned in a real circuit. A light emitting display includes a pixel unit(100) having plural pixels(110) emitting the light correspondingly to a data signal and a scan signal; an emission line(150) including plural light emitting units emitting the light correspondingly to one scan signal; a scan driving unit generating the scan signal by start pulse and transmitting the scan signal to the pixel unit and the emission line; a data driving unit(200) transmitting the data signal to the pixel unit; a control unit(400) generating a horizontal synchronization signal by a clock and transmitting the horizontal synchronization signal to the scan driving unit; and a clock generating unit(500) for generating the clock by using the light emitted from the emission line and transmitting the clock to the control unit.
