The system includes bearings (2, 3) for static and dynamic axial and radial loads acting upon the shaft (1) and comprises a bearing housing with an annular case (4) supporting the inner mantle surfaces of the outer bearing rings, annular end caps (6, 7) for covering the axial ends of the case and spacer sleeves (9, 10) positioned axially inside the caps for holding the inner bearing rings together and keeping them away from the caps. The inner mantle surfaces of these sleeves are aligned with the inner mantle surfaces for the bearings. The space between the outermost sleeves and case is sealed. The components inside the housing are held together using spindles (11) extending through the case and having one end secured to the upper side of an upper wall (5) of the sorting machine.
