A transmission of a hybrid electric vehicle is provided to minimize the full length of the transmission and improve the design freedom degree of the engine room by integrally placing the sun gear and the generator of the planetary gear set and having a serial connection with the ring gear and a gear of the first power transfer shaft. A rotary power of an engine(2) is controlled/distributed to an electric motor(10) and a generator(8) through a planetary gear set(6), and the power outputted through a ring gear(28) of the planetary gear set is transferred to a first power transfer shaft(12) by a power transfer unit, is reduced by the gear ratio of gears equipped at the first power transfer shaft and a second power transfer shaft(14) and mutually gear-combined, and drives wheels through a driving shaft(18) containing a differential(16). A transmission(4) of a hybrid electric vehicle integrally connects a sun gear(22) and the generator of the planetary gear set and has a serial connection with the ring gear of the planetary gear set and a gear of the first power transfer shaft. A stator(24) is placed at the center between the sun gear and the generator, and a rotor is formed at the perimeter. The sun gear is formed at the perimeter of the rotor.
