PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a liquid crystal monomer, oligomer and polymer obtained by polymerizing the same, set to prevent loss of liquid crystallinity in irradiation with light in polymerization reaction. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the liquid crystal monomer expressed by the general formula in the figure and having cinnamic acid moieties on both end of a molecule and a mesogen molecule on the center of the molecule. R or R' are each a spacer molecule expressed by -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-, -(CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>-, -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-C(=O)-, n is 1-20, MG is a specific mesogen group.
