PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent mixing unintended by a user of an index paper into printed matter. SOLUTION: A CPU 201 of a main controller 20 of a digital composite machine switches to selection of another paper feeding step when a paper feeding step becomes a paper end condition (a condition without paper) during paper feeding operation for feeding an index paper from the paper feeding step selected in advance among a plurality of paper feeding steps (a paper feeding part) capable of setting the index paper, respectively, and performs paper feeding operation for feeding the index paper from another paper feeding step, and then returns to the selection of paper feeding step selected before switching at predetermined timing when the index paper is set to the paper feeding step selected before switching.
