A method and a system for providing a messaging service are provided to reduce transmission delay by completing transmission through a voice network without using a data network. A transmission terminal transmits message information and reception terminal identification information to a messaging server(S410). The messaging server allocates a transmission path for transmitting the message information through the reception terminal identification information, and requests a messenger server to provide information about a sender of the transmission terminal(S420,S430). The messenger server extracts sender information and transmits it to the messaging server and the messaging server transmits the message information and the sender information to a reception terminal(S440).
