PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp for vehicles free from occurrence of crack leak. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp for vehicles comprises an airtight vessel 1 with a light emitting tube 11 enclosing a discharge medium in a discharge space 13 formed inside. First and second sealed parts 121 and 122 with sealed metal foils 21 and 22 connected to electrodes 31 and 32 and external lead lines 51 and 52, respectively, are formed at both ends of the light emitting tube 11. An external tube 7 is connected to the airtight vessel 1 of which first and second sealed parts 121 and 122 are welded to first and second welded parts 71 and 72, respectively, at both ends of the external tube 7. The second welded part 72 is formed at a distance range from 0.5 to 2.0 mm from an end part of the metal foil 22. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
