PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow meter for correcting a measured value of flow according to the volume of fluid having passed a measuring point while the measurement of flow rate at the measuring point can not be made by a certain cause, and also to provide a flow correcting method. SOLUTION: The flow meter comprises: a flow rate sensor 10 disposed in a flow channel 2, a flow rate measuring section 25 that determines flow rate S of fluid 3 in the flow channel 2 using a detected value Sa of the flow rate sensor 10 and has a measurement incapability reporting function reporting that the measurement of the flow rate using the detected value Sa can not be made; a water level sensor 11 for detecting the water level D of the fluid 2; an area measuring section 26 for determining the cross section A of the fluid 3 at the measuring point Pa using the water level D, a flow arithmetic part 27 for determining the fluid flow F by multiplying the flow rate S by the cross section A; and a retention correcting section 22 for correcting the fluid flow F using the variation of the water level D while the flow rate measurement can not be made.
