Disclosed is a photodetection unit having good mounting workability. Disclosed is a photodetection unit (1) wherein two fitting structures (30) are fixed to the back surface of a supporting substrate (20) which is made of a fired ceramic body. In the manufacturing process of the photodetection unit (1), each fitting structure (30) is joined to the back surface of the supporting substrate (20) after forming the fired ceramic body by firing a laminate of green sheets. Consequently, the fitting structures (30) can be accurately arranged on the back surface of the supporting substrate (20), thereby improving the mounting workability of the photodetection unit (1).
