<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection device of an oxygen sensor detecting an abnormality more suitably. <P>SOLUTION: The abnormality detection device 1A of the oxygen sensor 10 has a voltage-current characteristic for outputting an approximately constant limiting current corresponding to the oxygen concentration at a voltage application time. The oxygen sensor 10 has an openable/closable communicating hole 32 for communicating the inside and the outside of a cover 31 on the cover 31 for covering a sensor element 30, and existence/nonexistence of an abnormality of the oxygen sensor 10 is diagnosed on the basis of a current outputted as a result of application of the voltage in the state where the communicating hole 32 is closed.
