PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly secure antenna performance while adequately securing mechanical strength of an entire antenna device, without cost increase of the entire antenna device. SOLUTION: The onboard antenna device 1 is constituted of dimensions smaller than those required for a printed board 3 to secure the antenna performance as a ground plate of an antenna element 2, and larger than those required for a metal plate 4 to secure the antenna performance as the ground plate of the antenna element 2. The onboard antenna device 1 is configured not to operate the printed board 3 as the ground plate of the antenna element 2, but to operate the metal plate 4 resistant against shocks and vibrations and cheaper than the printed board 3 as the ground plate of the antenna element 2.
