PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic toner that can prevent dielectric breakdown of an amorphous silicon photoreceptor when performing magnetic single component jumping development using an amorphous silicon photoreceptor and a magnetic toner, that shows no change in easy charging property and a charge amount regardless to a temperature or humidity environment, in particular, even in an environment difficult for charging such as a high temperature or high humidity environment, and that can continuously form a preferable image for a long period of time, and to provide an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: The magnetic toner is constituted by using such magnetic powder that the particle form is basically polyhedral, each apex and ridge line of the polyhedron are curved, the particle has a straight portion in the outline of its projected image, and the powder has 0.01 to 0.50μm average particle diameter and a volume resistivity of 1.0×10<SP>3</SP>(Ωcm) or more and less than 1.0×10<SP>8</SP>(Ωcm).
