Eliminating biofilms and bioslimes in a cooling circuit with a cooling tower comprises introducing an unsupported metal catalyst into the circuit and starting to inject pulses of an aqueous peroxide solution when the number of freely moving microorganisms in the water reaches or exceeds a predetermined minimum level.
