The umbrella has a handle (2) and a shaft (3), where a sliding piece is guided between the handle and an upper notch. Several illuminants (11) are provided in area of an outer edge (10) of a covering (9) and are distributed over a periphery of the covering. The illuminants are integrated with a current source in an electric circuit, where the electric circuit is closable by using a switching device. The illuminants are formed by LEDs.
