A reductant line (2) projects into the exhaust line (7). Its end region (9) terminates in an opening (8). The end region includes a reductant line section (10) with a tapering internal diameter. This reduces continuously from the inner diameter (d2) of the reductant line (2), to the diameter of the outlet opening (d1). The tapering section of the reductant line runs in a end cap (3) fitted to this line. The opening is circular, its diameter (d1) lying in the range 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm, preferably being about 1.5 mm. The conicity of the taper is in the range 0.8 - 1.5, preferably being 1.1. The tip of the reductant line discharges into the radially-central zone of the exhaust line. The reductant line is bent in the direction of gas flow. The reductant is supplied as a two-phase, gas-liquid mixture, to the reductant line. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of introducing reductant into a vehicle exhaust line.
