<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of preventing flooding at a cathode and starting in a short time under freezing point. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly (1) includes a cathode catalyst layer (21) and cathode diffusion layers (22, 23) formed on one surface, an anode catalyst layer (31) and anode diffusion layers (32, 33) formed on the other surface, and a solid polymer membrane (10) generating power by being supplied with air and hydrogen. The cathode diffusion layers (22, 23) are equipped with a hydrophilic region and a water-repellent region, and the cathode catalyst layer (21) has higher water repellency than either of the cathode diffusion layers (22, 23). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
