PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical substrate manufacturing method capable of molding a core part and an external pattern at high positional accuracy as to a manufacturing method for molding a core part by using a molding die in which a core pattern formation part is formed and filling the core pattern part of the molding die with a core material in consideration of defects in conventional technology. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical substrate comprises: an under clad formation process for applying and forming an under clad layer on a supporting substrate; a pattern molding process for molding a core pattern part and an external pattern part by pressing a molding die in which a core pattern formation part and an external pattern formation part are formed to the under clad layer; and an over clad layer formation process for forming an over clad layer on the under clad layer filled with the core material.
