PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a semiconductor device and method for controlling the same by which a reconfigurable functional module is correctly and easily updated. SOLUTION: The semiconductor device and method for controlling the same has an EEPROM 14 in which setting information 12 on the reconfigurable functional module 11 is stored, a ROM 16 in which unique identification information 15 is stored, a transmitting/receiving module 17 which receives update conditions 23 of the setting information 12 and new setting information 22 for updating the functional module 11 by radio communication and a control circuit 18 which determines update of the setting information 12 based on the identification information 15 and the update conditions 23 and replaces the setting information 12 stored in the EEPROM 14 with the new setting information 23 received by the transmitting/receiving module 17 when the update is required.
