<p>The method involves making a portable data medium (1) in the form of e.g. smart card that includes a control unit (6) and a switching device (8). The control unit is accessible, and is not affected by contact at the exterior of the portable data medium. The switching device can be operated from outside of the card body (2) of the smart card. The switching device is connected to the reset port of the control unit for switching the operating condition of the control unit into defined condition.
