A system and a method for accessing the USB(Universal Serial Bus) network are provided to enable a client device to determine a specific USB configuration and function satisfying available power supplied from the USB network by allowing the client device to select the USB configuration. A transceiver interface(110) accesses a function circuit(112). A USB transceiver(108) accesses the transceiver interface and is connected to a USB-compatible medium(106). The transceiver interface provides the first set of configuration data including the power setting to a host device. The USB transceiver is electrically cut off from the USB medium and is electrically reconnected to the USB medium. The transceiver interface provides the second set of configuration data including the second power setting by responding to electric reconnection.
