PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform accurate tilt control by eliminating a tilt control error caused by shifting between the tilt detection position of an optical disk and the spot position of an objective lens by a tilt sensor. SOLUTION: In inserting an optical disk 1, a first SW6a is OFF, a servo pulling operation is executed, the first SW6a is connected to a phase compensator 7 side in "0" timing of an objective lens 2 to set a closed loop, and the tilt servo of the objective lens 2 is driven. Further, the tilting of the objective lens 2 traces an optical disk tilt signal from an optical disk tilt sensor 5. The optical disk tilt signal output from this optical disk tilt sensor is converted into digital data by an A/D converter, stored in a memory by a controller, sent to a computer 10 again via the controller after the passage of a predetermined time, and then sent as a tilt error signal to a phase compensator 7 by taking a difference with an objective lens tilt signal.
