The method involves inserting and aligning a shift-fork in a fixing device, where the alignment takes place on the basis of a selected reference point of the shift-fork. A connection is established between a holder (18) for a sensor unit and the shift-fork, where a relative position of the holder is predetermined by the fixing device based on the reference point during establishment of the connection.
