SOURCE RECORDING APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a source recording apparatus and a source recording method whereby a time required for recording and editing video sources such as video contents is reduced.

SOLUTION: An optical disk apparatus 2 for recording the video contents and a computer 3 are connected via a network 90. The computer 3 receives proxy AV data with a low resolution from the optical disk apparatus 2, applies streaming reproduction to the data as a live video image, receives essence marks as metadata at optional positions of the proxy AV data and describes the resulting data to a metadata file. Then the optical disk apparatus 2 transmits a header including a recording period of a photographed clip to the computer 3 after the end of photographing of one clip.
