PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dampening water composition for lithographic printing which indicates an excellent promotion effect of drying an ink even under environments where the air supply is shut off or insufficient. SOLUTION: This dampening water for lithographic printing contains an enzyme for decomposing hydrogen peroxide which can shorten a drying time of the oxidative polymerization-type lithographic printing ink containing a perborate or a percarbonate. The hydrogen peroxide decomposing enzyme can quickly decompose a hydrogen peroxide generated from the perborate or the percarbonate into water and oxygen. The oxygen thus generated receives a catalytic action by a conventionally used reaction promotion catalyst such as a cobalt salt, a manganese salt or a zinc salt of an octyl acid and a naphthenic acid, and thereby, chemically reacts with a double bond of a drying oil contained in the ink or a polymerized drying oil obtained by processing the drying oil to form a solid oxide film.
