<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information apparatus that facilitates the input of a nonnumerical password even when the password is input from an operation part without a numeric keypad or touch panel. <P>SOLUTION: A printer that comprises a display panel 31 for displaying characters and operation keys 33 to 37 for executing predetermined operations and receives the input of a password by the selection of numbers displayed on the display panel 31 through the operation keys 33, 34 and 36 assigns codes forming respective digits of the password to the operation keys 33 to 35 and 37, and receives the input of the assigned operation key codes by the operation of the operation keys 33 to 37.
