An apparatus and a method for converting a bit map file are provided to rearrange only the real data portion of the bit map file without codec and then to reproduce the rearranged portion. A file loading member(410) loads the bit map file. A header extracting member(420) extracts only a header of the bit map file loaded by the file loading member so that the offset information started from the size of a file and the real data are extracted. A data rearrangement member(430) rearranges the real data of the bit map file by means of the offset information. A screen processing member(440) converts the rearranged data into four gray data. A storage member(450) stores the data processed by the screen processing member. An output member(460) outputs the data stored in the storage member on a screen.
