A system and a method for sending notification through a messenger are provided to notify a user of an event generated from diverse services like a mail and blog service through the messenger while minimizing server load, and minimize quantity of notification message packets by sending the notification to the users connected to the messenger. A messenger system controls instant message transfer of messenger users, and monitors and transfers status change information of the messenger users. Each external service system(100,102) monitors generation of the preset event and generates a notification message for the event after determining an online status of the messenger users related to the generated event when the event is generated. A sync server(104) receives the status change information of the messenger users from the messenger system, provides the status change information to each external service system, receives the notification message from each external service system, and transfers the received notification message to the messenger system.
