A heat pump air conditioner is provided to maximize heating efficiency, and to decrease energy consumption by supplying hot water from a hot water supply unit to a first pipe in the heating mode. A heat pump air conditioner(800) includes a compressor(100) compressing low temperature and low pressure gas refrigerant from a suction port(110b) and discharging high pressure and high temperature gas refrigerant to a discharge port(110a), indoor and outdoor heat exchangers(300,500) connected to the compressor by a pipe to exchange heat with outdoor air, an expansion mechanism(400) connected between the indoor and outdoor heat exchangers to decompress normal temperature and high pressure liquid refrigerant into low temperature and low pressure liquid refrigerant, and a four-way valve(700) having passages(710a,710b) connecting the discharge port and the suction port of the compressor to the indoor and outdoor heat exchangers and switching flow of refrigerant in cooling or heating. A first pipe(301) is formed in the indoor heat exchanger and connected to a hot water supply unit(600) by a water pipe, and a second pipe(302) is connected to the compressor and the expansion mechanism by a refrigerant pipe. Hot water is supplied from the hot water supply unit to the first pipe in operating in the heating mode. The hot water supply unit is formed of a hot water storage tank of a boiler.
