<p>The surge arrestor for high surge currents according to the invention solves in a quite original way problems linked to overvoltages, which are the consequence of atmospheric discharge and other reasons in low-voltage networks by applying power varistors and other surge protection elements in a common enclosure of up to the size of 6 TE. It includes at least one or several single-layer or multiple-layer varistor surge arresting elements and gas-based arrestors, which are dimensioned in such a way that the surge arrestor according to the invention provides the integration of all three classes of surge arrestors I + II + III according to IED or B + C + D according to VDE in a single enclosure. The device also includes an integrated protection against thermal destruction due to the overheating of the varistors by integrating protective foil and local as well as remote reporting of errors of the protective elements. It also solves problems linked to the transient impedance in earthing conductors in a quite original way.</p> |
