<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display panel with which frontal contrast is improved by reducing redundant retardation generated due to inclined alignment of liquid crystal molecules in the vicinity of a slope, and a liquid crystal display device equipped with the panel. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display panel has a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate laminated in this order, wherein at least one out of the first substrate and the second substrate has the slope on the liquid crystal layer side. In the liquid crystal display panel, the substrate having the slope has a uniaxial birefringent layer which is inclined to an inclination direction of the slope and arranged in the slope region, and has an optical axis in a direction nearly vertical to the slope. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
