A wire grid polarizing plate, a method for fabricating the same, and a backlight unit having the same are provided to enhance optical characteristics in a visible ray band by forming a plurality of micro-structures separated from each other on a substrate. A wire grid polarizing plate includes a substrate(100), a layer(110), a plurality of micro-structures(115), and a metallic thin film(116). The layer is formed on the upper surface of the substrate. The micro-structures are formed on a partial region of the upper surface of the layer. The micro-structures are separated from each other at certain intervals. The lower width of each micro-structure is larger than the upper width of each micro-structure. The metallic thin film is formed on the upper surface and the lateral surface of each micro-structure.
