<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system that adaptively revises an access method of coded data or a method of progressive decoding in matching with characteristics of an output apparatus such as a printer output and a display output and further controls the coded data access method or a progressive order to obtain an efficient and effective output. <P>SOLUTION: In the image processing system, in which code data are transmitted between at least one client and a server, the client includes a selecting unit to select a processing function to execute; and a notifying unit to notify the server about the selected processing function.
