PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray inspection device capable of precisely inspecting a supplied article using a simplified constitution and capable of effectively preventing the leakage of X rays to the outside. SOLUTION: A first posture altering unit 10, which is constituted so as to alter the attitude of the article M, of which the height dimension h0 is larger than its width dimension in the cross section traversing an article feed route so as to shorten the transmission distance of X rays to set the article M to an attitude that its high dimension h1 is smaller than its width dimension, is provided on the upstream side of the upstream side vertical wall 21a of a shielding box 21, in which an X-ray source and an X-ray detector 23 are housed so as to be arranged in vertically facing relation. The article passing ports 21a' and 21b' respectively formed on the upstream and downstream vertical walls 21a and 21b of the shielding box 21 are set to a dimension lower than the height dimension h0 of the article M, before the attitude of the article M is altered by the first attitude-altering unit 10.
